Brown Pelican
is unique among the world's seven species of pelicans, is found along the ocean shores and not on inland lakes. It is the only dark pelican, and also the only one that plunges from the air into the water to catch its food.

American White Pelican
breeds on lakes throughout the northern Great Plains and mountain West, is one of the largest birds in North America. It winters along the coasts, but breeds only inland.
